Sofwave

Sofwave uses parallel ultrasound beams to deliver heat within the dermis, encouraging collagen remodelling. It is an option for selected facial lines and lifting concerns, including appropriate brow, under-chin and neck areas. Our service also lists body treatment options, which require an area-specific assessment.

Main role: Dermal treatment for selected lines and laxity. Sofwave works differently from ultrasound systems that treat at several selected tissue depths.

Ultherapy PRIME

Ultherapy PRIME uses microfocused ultrasound with visualisation. Real-time imaging helps the practitioner see tissue and guide energy delivery at the chosen depths. It can be considered for suitable brow, under-chin and neck lifting concerns, as well as lines on the décolletage.

Main role: An ultrasound option with imaging for selected lifting and wrinkle concerns. Suitability depends on anatomy and the extent of laxity.

Thermage FLX

Thermage FLX uses monopolar radiofrequency to heat treated tissue through the skin surface. It is offered for suitable face and body concerns, with dedicated treatment approaches for different areas. Cooling and vibration are incorporated into the treatment system.

Main role: Skin firmness and wrinkles on appropriate face or body areas. Eye-area treatment requires the correct applicator, protection and trained practitioner.

HIFU

HIFU skin tightening uses high-intensity focused ultrasound to deliver energy at selected tissue depths. It may be considered for suitable facial, neck or body laxity, depending on the device, handpiece and area being treated.

Main role: Focused ultrasound for selected skin-tightening concerns. HIFU describes a technology category; different systems should not be assumed to have the same features or evidence as Ultherapy PRIME.

Exilis

Exilis combines radiofrequency and ultrasound delivered through the skin surface. It may suit selected concerns involving reduced firmness on the face or body. A course is often considered, with the schedule tailored to the area and your response.

Main role: A course-based option for appropriate skin-firmness concerns.

Why do skin firmness and definition change?

Changes in collagen and elastin can make skin feel less firm over time. Sun exposure and lifestyle can influence these changes, while pregnancy or weight fluctuations may leave areas of stretched skin.

Definition also depends on what lies beneath the skin. Muscle tone, fat distribution and facial volume affect appearance in different ways. Choosing a treatment starts with identifying which of these features you want to address.

Concerns that may benefit from an assessment

You may be looking for advice about mild facial laxity, fine lines, a softer jawline, crepey neck skin or reduced firmness on the body. You may instead want to discuss muscle definition or a localised contouring concern.

These goals are different. A device selected for facial lines will not automatically address body fat, muscle tone or significant excess skin.

Aftercare following machine-based treatments

Aftercare depends on the device and area. Temporary redness, warmth, swelling or tenderness may occur after skin treatment. Your practitioner will explain what to expect and when you can return to your usual activities.

Follow the written guidance on skincare, sun protection, exercise and additional procedures. Allow the agreed time before judging results or booking another treatment on the same area.
