What Causes Rosacea?

The exact cause of rosacea is unknown, but it could be due to a combination of hereditary and environmental factors. Some experts believe a bacteria found on the skin called H pylori could play a role. Once you have rosacea, certain triggers can cause flare-ups, including:

IPL Aftercare Treatment

Post Treatment Expectations

Your skin will be red and feel sunburned after treatment. This starts to subside within 24 hours.
You will have swelling in treatment areas.
You may experience mild skin peeling/flaking 2-3 days after your treatment.

Post Rosacea Treatment Aftercare

Applying a cool pack after treatment will help with any discomfort.
Avoid sun or other prolonged UV exposure for 14 days post treatment to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation or darker pigmentation. SPF and antioxidant protection must be worn post-treatment. You will be advised on suitable aftercare products.
Avoid exercise, sauna/steam room/hot baths, and any other heat treatments, and makeup for 48 hours post treatment.
Apply aloe vera gel to help soothe any sensitive skin.
Avoid picking, rubbing or scratching the treated skin.

How long does IPL last for Rosacea?

There is no particular cure for Rosacea, however IPL treatment will significantly reduce the symptoms and appearance. This could last for many years or you may need a further course of treatment should the redness reappear, this will be dependant on your skin and how it reacts.

What Happens after IPL for Rosacea?

You will see noticeable changes in your skin and potentially have minor side effects. This is completely expected after laser treatment and shouldn’t affect your day-to-day life. Some common symptoms may mimic a sunburn appearance and feeling, which will fade.
