How Does LED Light Therapy Work?

Our skin has a natural ability to absorb light energy, which can then be used to stimulate or regulate essential cellular processes. LED light therapy works by emitting specific wavelengths of light that are absorbed into the skin, encouraging faster cell renewal, collagen production, and the reduction of inflammation. The key wavelengths used—Blue, Red, and Near Infrared—each serve a distinct purpose, targeting various skin layers to enhance overall health and appearance.

Benefits of LED Light Therapy

One of the primary advantages of LED light therapy is its versatility and ability to address multiple skin concerns in a single treatment. Dermalux uses a combination of Blue, Red, and Near Infrared light to deliver comprehensive skin benefits:

  • Blue Light (415nm): Targets and destroys acne-causing bacteria, helping to prevent breakouts and promote a clearer complexion. It also soothes inflamed and irritated skin.
  • Red Light (633nm): Stimulates the skin’s cells to boost collagen and elastin production, enhancing hydration and firmness while reducing fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Near Infrared Light (830nm): Promotes skin healing, reduces redness and irritation, and helps to even out pigmentation. It penetrates deeper into the skin, making it ideal for more advanced rejuvenation.

The effects of the treatment continue to develop even after the session ends, as the light triggers a cascade of beneficial skin processes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during Dermalux LED Therapy?

Dermalux LED phototherapy treatment, we will gently cleanse & exfoliate your skin, ensuring we remove any sunscreen, makeup and skincare products; this is necessary to allow the beneficial light waves to penetrate your skin.

Protective eyewear is required to be worn by the patient in order to protect your eyes from the LED lights. For 30-45 minutes, you can relax while a special overhead panel directs light waves onto your skin. The treatment is completely pain-free, and will give your skin a natural, glowing boost.

When will I see results?

With LED therapy, results are immediately visible. After just one treatment with her, you will notice that your skin is really hydrated, naturally glowing and redness is reduced. For longer-lasting results, multiple sessions may be required rather than a single session. Optimal results are achieved with a rapid succession of treatments, and additional treatments may be recommended.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments varies depending on the client, but we usually perform about 3 treatments. Each treatment takes about 20 minutes, no downtime, and you can get back up and shine. The light triggers a series of skin improvement processes, so that visible effects remain even after the treatment is complete.
