A quick glance at the celebrity news during the party season reveals a plethora of glowing stars wrapped up in faux fur coats with skin just as luminous as though they’d spent the day on a tropical beach…in some cases they have…but in others, their perfectly groomed look and flawless complexions are down to an extremely good skincare routine.
If you’re tired of looking grey and flaky during the winter and you’d be much happier looking golden and smooth, take a look at our winter beauty tips and you’ll soon be looking every bit as good as those red carpet A-listers!
Dull, Dry Winter Skin
So your face is suffering the effects of not only cold winds and central heating but also too many hot showers and baths. These things combine to create a skin that’s more than lacklustre. If you’d like to improve not only the way your skin looks but also the way if feels then you will need to make some basic changes.
1) Drink More Water: Water works from the inside out and extra hydration is important in cold weather just as it is in hot;
2) Ensure You’re Getting Enough Omega 3: That’s the good, essential fatty acids found in foods such as salmon and walnuts
3) Use A Gentle Cleanser: Don’t ever use soap and if you’re used to a clear cleanser be aware that these are harsher than the milky types which are great when your skin is chapped or dry.
4) Use A Protective Face Balm: This especially important if you spend a lot of time outside; a layer to insulate your skin from the cold and damp will do wonders for it.
Dry, Brittle Hair
Like our skin, our hair can really take a battering through the cold winter months; it’s either getting damp from the rain or it’s bone-dry from the central heating. The constant extreme changes do nothing to keep it glossy but you can help it along with some TLC.
You don’t even need to spend a fortune to give your hair a treat; make up a masque at home using natural ingredients such as olive oil which is deeply conditioning and avocado which really restores shine.
Shampoo as usual and then towel dry hair; now pack on the oil or the avocado and wrap your hair with Clingfilm. Relax for half an hour and then rinse well. Throw a little vinegar into the rinsing water for a really deep shine.
Winter is tough on our bodies but by taking precautions to both protect and restore our extremities we can look more glossy and well groomed than ever![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
