Laser Hair Removal Cheaper Than Shaving?

By Mary Basiadima, 18 July 2012

How many of you shave your facial hair, underarms, legs or even downstairs on a daily basis? Many people are tired of having to shave constantly everyday for the rest of their lives but do nothing about it. There is a myth that laser hair removal is very expensive and can only be afforded by the stars and the wealthy but this could not be further from the truth. Recent figures from RealSelf.com reveal that the average price of a laser hair removal session is around £1,066.

“According to data from RealSelf.com, the average cost of a laser hair removal session is $1,659 (£1,066), with prices ranging from $500 to $2,000.”

The article goes on to say…

“The cost depends on numerous factors, such as the experience of the individual administering the procedure, the location of the treatment centre and the size of the area being treated.

However, taking all this into account – including the fact the average patient will have seven or more sessions – it seems laser hair removal works out cheaper than shaving.

Writing for female advice site Divine Caroline, Nicki Zevola pointed out that if a woman starts shaving when she is 15 years old and carries on until she reaches the average life expectancy of 78, she will have been shaving for 63 years.

This means the cost of buying new razors, replacement blades and shaving cream soon adds up and could end up being considerably more over a lifetime than the price of laser hair removal.”

For many in the short term the cost of the laser hair removal treatment may seem a little expensive but in the long run it could save you a lot of money. Why not wait till your local laser hair removal clinic is running a special offer or look online to find deals and vouchers which will help you save even further?  Not only is the treatment cost effective but also saves you valuable time. Women spend on average around 20 to 30 minutes a day having a shower and a shave but this time could be put to better use.

Laser hair removal is a simple procedure which requires a series of treatments. The concentrated beam of light which is aimed at the hair is absorbed by the pigment and in effect damages the hair follicle –stopping the hair from growing. The treatment is virtually pain free with some people referring to the sensation felt as feeling like a rubber band snapping against the skin.
