Woman Suffering With Back Acne

Backless Dresses, Swimsuits & Bikinis

If you have ever known the misery of back acne then you will also know the horror which many women feel at the impending summer months! Summer is the time for backless dresses, swimsuits and bikinis…it’s a time when more flesh is on show than ordinarily and if that flesh isn’t in prime condition then it can be both uncomfortable and embarrassing.

Backs are one of the most neglected areas on most women’s bodies…not only because we don’t see them daily but also because they’re awkward to reach! Begin your battle against back acne by standing in front of a full length mirror and having a good inspection of the skin. If you can’t make it out then use another mirror to reflect your back more clearly.

How Do I Treat It?

Depending on the type of acne from which you suffer, you will need to take a two pronged approach. If your skin is not suffering from sore pustules but is looking lacklustre and has red marks from past spots, then you will need to begin a regular exfoliating routine in addition to adding some good quality moisturizer to your skincare routine.

Use a loofah to gently scrub away the dead skin cells during your bath or shower and use a gentle cleanser and not a harsh soap or shower gel. Don’t scrub too hard as you could irritate the skin or make it even worse. Once you’ve scrubbed it with a good exfoliating body wash, use another body wash which contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, both of which are excellent at fighting acne and helping acne prone skin get that glow back.

If you feel that your back needs professional help then it can be a good idea to visit your clinic and book in for a back treatment. Most good skin clinics offer a range of brilliant acne treatments for backs including scrubs, steam cleansing, extraction and moisturizing massages. If your back is generally a problem area then try to see your practitioner once a month in the run up to summer and you will soon see a huge difference.

Acne with pustules which can be very sore is a different matter and it is very important that you seek medical advice from a dermatologist before trying out any treatments at all. A lot can be done with topical creams and medication for severe acne and the scarring which it leaves behind. The main thing is to remember that acne can be cured and it is only in rare cases that no improvement whatsoever is seen.

If you are suffering from a flare-up of your acne, remember to wear loose fitting cotton clothing and keep the area scrupulously clean which will help to avoid infection and redness. The hot weather can be a challenge to those with acne in places other than the face so be aware that keeping cool will help your skin enormously. If you are too shy to reveal your skin to the public gaze, seek expert advice as soon as possible and get the help that is available.
