We hear all the time how important it is to look after our skin and to make sure we protect it from UV damage caused by the Sun. A lot of people are willing to sacrifice their health for vanity reasons such as using sunbeds in order to maintain an all year round tan.
The world of modelling requires that a person look their best all the time which with the added pressure from society normally requires some sort of tan to achieve a glowing ‘healthy’ appearance. Nowadays there are plenty of beauty skin treatments such as the deep hydrating and glow treatment and also products on the market to create a false tan. However back in 1982 when Elle entered the modeling scene there was only really one way to get a tan and that was the old fashioned way by damaging the skin.
In a recent interview with The Gloss, supermodel Elle Macpherson, confessed “My greatest regret from when I was younger was that I didn’t protect my skin from the sun – even though I think I look better with a tan”. She now understands the importance of taking care of her skin and regularly uses 50+ SPF. She even uses surf leggings when she is not in a bikini in order to give her skin added protection.
